We present a simple model for fluids of colloidal platelets that incorporates an approximate treatment for platelet orientation and takes into account size and shape polydispersity. The model is solved using density-functional theory and accounts for isotropic and nematic phases. Results for phase equilibria will be presented and compared with recent experimental results on colloidal suspensions of mineral platelets.
